an Eclectic offering

Alongside beautiful landscape photography and illustration of the hills and landmarks surrounding Hayfield village, the gallery is home to an eclectic collection of homewares, gifts, candles and much more!

HANDMADE, ETHICALLY SOURCED

All our gifts and homewares are handmade and ethically sourced. We make sure we know exactly where all our products are made so you can shop with a clear conscience. We care a lot about the impact of what we sell and take our time to find like minded companies who share our values.

SUSTAINABILITY

We do our best to run the gallery as sustainably as possible. When you take your Elephantstones goodies home with you, we’ll pack your items into paper bags and use compostable (green in colour) bubble wrap or recycled packaging from things we are sent to keep your items safe on their travels. When shipping orders out, we use eco friendly paper tape and packing to make sure your items arrive safely. We care about our impact on the environment!

JAPANESE LIVING

Nippon-koku - ‘Land where the sun rises’

From sake sets to bamboo chopsticks, ramen bowls to Elephantstones own brand Japanese tea, make way for your new obsession - I think we’re turning Japanese!

Japan is home to some of the oldest pottery in the world and has a unique style and appreciation of ceramics. It took us years to find a company that could tell us where and how their ceramics are made, so we are so excited to have this beautiful range at the gallery.

Our collection of Japanese stoneware is handmade by artisans and ethically sourced from Japan. Each piece is unique and beautiful to behold! We have noodle bowls, tea cups, sake sets and much more. Everything you need to start enjoying the delights of Japanese living.

A piece of Japanese artistry makes for an unusual gift or a special treat for yourself! Tactile, beautiful, yet practical, make some space for a tea ceremony in your life!

JAPANESE INCENSE

Where fragrance "ka" meets with slowly wafting scented smoke "yuragi"

Nippon Kodo's devotion to making fine incense follows a long and honored tradition that started more than 400 years ago and can be traced back to Juemon Takai, better known as Koju, a skilled artisan in the art and the principal provider of precious rare and exquisite aromas to the Emperor of Japan and his Court.

Many of the pleasing and enduring high-quality incense fragrances are based on the original formulas created by Koju and later by Yujiro Kito, who was hailed as the genius of fragrance during the Meiji restoration period in the 19th century - around the time that Japan opened its doors to the world and began to modernize itself.

We have a range of high quality Japanese incense for you to choose from available in incense cones or sticks. Perfect for using whilst meditating or relaxing at home.

ST EVAL SCENTED CANDLES

Handmade, naturally scented Cornish candles

St Eval candles are hand-made down in Cornwall in a small working farm’s kitchen. Working using traditional methods, the candles are made from natural ingredients, inspired by the beautiful British countryside.

The candle waxes are a made from a combination of mineral and vegetable waxes. They are not tested on animals and the wax does not contain any animal products making them vegetarian and cruelty free. Thats what we like! They waxes are also free of nasty paraffins. This is what creates their superior performance, stability and reliability, and a fabulous scent throw.

Since arriving at the gallery, our candles have quickly become one of our most popular ranges. So, we decided to extend our range to include reed diffusers that last and last!

ST EVAL REED DIFFUSERS

Naturally scented reed diffusers that last and last

St Eval are well known for their hand-made candles, but did you know they do gorgeous reed diffusers too? Made in Cornwall in the same small working farm’s kitchen as their candles, St Evals reed diffusers are free from alcohol providing lasting fragrance so you can enjoy your favourite candle scents all day long!

Each diffuser lasts for up to 3 months and gently releases a subtle and consistent aroma throughout your home. Delight your senses with fragrances designed to enhance your home and refresh your space!

locally inspired gifts

Maps, notebooks, greetings cards and bookmarks

Inspired by the local landscape, we have a lovely collection of Hayfield gifts that depict the beautiful landscapes that surround the gallery - a perfect memento of your trip to the Peak District.

Our map gifts are printed onto sustainably sourced Lake District wood specially for Elephntstones. The map gifts feature the Ordnance Survey map of the area including Hayfield Village and Kinder Scout.

Our greetings cards, bookmarks and notebooks feature artworks by Elephantstones artists Simon Bridges and Eve Bridges. Eve captures the local landmarks of Hayfield in a painterly, illustrated style. Simon’s photographs are elegant and colourful, capturing broad vistas and delicate detail.

seeds

Handmade Dorset clay wildflower seed bombs

Help restore the lost wildflower habitat with these amazing seed bombs and make an important contribution to the biodiversity of Great Britain by saving our bees!

Hand made in Dorset, Beebombs are a mix of 18 British wildflower seeds, fine, sifted soil and locally sourced clay. The soil will help your Beebombs germinate and the clay will protect them as they dissipate.

Beebombs need no gardening skill and can be scattered straight onto open ground at any time of the year. Once scattered, you don't need to water or tend your Beebombs.

Let’s save our bees!

Our Scandinavian pieces are definitely collectable, often unique and mainly from the 50's, 60's and 70's. If you like something, act quickly as they are hard to come by again!

Even the "King" loved Scandinavian glass... Taken in 1963, this photograph shows Elvis holding a piece designed by Swedish glass-maker Erik Höglund. Nowadays, this image is used as advertising for the Swedish glass-works.

A piece of Scandi vintage makes for an unusual gift or a special treat for yourself! We source our Scandi goodness from collectors and also suffer the hardship of buying trips to the Nordic territories...
