Elephantstones Gallery & Harry Ousey Featured In Reflections Magazine!

We are thrilled to be featured in the June 2021 issue of Reflections Magazine - Derbyshire’s largest circulation lifestyle magazine!

Reflections Magazine does exactly what it says on the tin – it reflects on Derbyshire’s heritage and what’s happening across the county now.

We were approached by Reflections Magazine for a feature back in January and after waiting for the lockdown restrictions to ease, we were finally able to meet up with writer Steve Brown to chat about all things Elephantstones!

We were thrilled when Steve wanted to focus the article on the incredible story and art of Harry Ousey, a Manchester born painter who lived in Hayfield village in 1947. Harry has a permanent home at the gallery after we met Sue Astles, Harry’s niece, who we’ve worked with to showcase Harry’s work for some years now. Harry’s story is an interesting one, so if you like abstract modern art, this article is for you!

We were also able to chat about how Elephantstones Gallery was born and the story of artists that make up the Elephantstones team - Simon, Suzanne and Eve Bridges! :)

We are delighted with the article and Harry’s niece Sue is rather chuffed too - it gives a really great overview of what we are all about! A big thank you to Steve for doing such a brilliant job.

We are hoping to get some hard copies for the gallery but in the meantime, you can read the full article online - just click the button below!
